What the law requires
Under DM 7 January 2013 (as amended under DL 53/2019), every accommodation provider in Italy must report each guest to Alloggiati Web, run by the Polizia di Stato, within 24 hours of arrival — 6 hours for stays under 24 hours. Access isn't self-serve: you first register your establishment with your local Questura, which issues a username and password, then generate a WSKEY from the Alloggiati Web portal to enable automatic submission.
